In 2016, Evonik Industries - the world's leading specialty chemicals company - acquired the Norwegian startup MedPalett AS.
MedPalett specializes in anthocyanin-containing dietary supplements and markets the unique branded product MEDOX®: For over 17 years, subscribers in Norway have sworn by the power of wild Scandinavian blueberries and blackcurrants, which are rich in anthocyanins.
Full service from a single source
In order to expand new digital business models, the subsidiary Evonik Digital GmbH, based in Essen, Germany, was founded in 2016. While searching for a full-service agency for the product launch of MEDOX® on the German market, the young company became aware of communicode. The focus of the selection process was on experience in different disciplines: what was required was a service provider who was convincing both conceptually and strategically as well as technologically. As one of the largest digital agencies in the Essen area, communicode was able to assert itself against the competition in the pitch. Digital product launch in Germany
In order to continue the success story of the Scandinavian superfood in Germany, a target group and market analysis was carried out first. On the basis of the information gathered, communicode conceived a digital market launch campaign for MEDOX®. After evaluating suitable marketing channels, a comprehensive media plan was created. Continuous performance optimization as well as a branding campaign to increase brand awareness were in the foreground. In order to spread the innovative food supplement throughout Germany, communicode created targeted campaigns for display advertising as well as social media channels. These are flanked by SEO measures. In its function as overall project manager, communicode controls all service providers involved in the product launch. The special challenge of the project was to professionally serve all necessary channels from one source and to be responsible for the market launch as a full service digital agency from the very first hour on.

Currently, MEDOX® is only available online. communicode advised a "digital first strategy", which enables a simple success tracking and thus a timely adaptation at minimal cost risk. On the basis of Shopware 5.2, communicode developed a web store according to the latest technology standards. The Scandinavian brand product is only available by subscription, therefore the Premium Plugin AboCommerce is used: The plugin enables the end customer to place orders in self-determined intervals. In addition, graduated prices with special discount functions are guaranteed. To arouse the buying interest of new customers, the Shopware shopping worlds are used: The integration of videos, banners and product images present the product in all facets in a visually appealing way. For a smooth live operation, communicode established a staging process: due to the strict separation of test and production environment, innovations can be tested without any risk. The hosting of the online store is carried out in the Cloud - via Amazon Web Services (AWS). In line with the brand image, communicode is responsible - in addition to the technical implementation - for the design creation as well as the content creation of the webshop.

The product launch took place within a project duration of only five months. Thanks to a holistic business strategy, the Essen-based company succeeded in equipping MEDOX® for the digital future.
