  • How long will Shopware 5 continue to receive updates?

    Shopware 5, including the premium plugins, will continue to receive support until the end of 2024. However, these updates have only consisted of bug fixes and security patches since 2021. These will ultimately also end in 2024, meaning that secure operation of Shopware 5 can no longer be guaranteed from 2025 and we therefore recommend switching to Shopware 6 as soon as possible.
  • Why can't we just update to Shopware 6?

    The migration to Shopware 6 is not a simple further development or extension of Shopware 5. It is basically a completely new system with its own interfaces and structures as well as the API First architecture. The differences are so extensive that a small tool cannot manage it, but requires experienced hands. The migration is therefore a complex project that needs to be well planned.
  • When should we tackle the migration project?

    Shopware 6 has been on the market since 2019 and is therefore fully mature. Especially with the B2B Suite running reliably, there is basically no longer any argument against SW6. Since the end of 2024 is not that far away and the migration project is quite complex, it is better to tackle it now and with all due care.
  • How does the migration from Shopware 5 to Shopware 6 work?

However, we also know that our customers' online shops are usually highly customised and have a complex product structure. We are familiar with such variable and extensive projects and are happy to develop sophisticated customised solutions.

    However, we are all the less able to provide an exact forecast of the project plan until we have analysed the online shop in question for the upcoming migration and discussed your project with you.

  • Who is communicode's migration offer aimed at?

    The migration from Shopware 5 to Shopware 6 poses a certain challenge for every shop operator. However, we specialise primarily in solutions for shops that are characterised by extensive customisation and complex products with various configurations. These not only have to be transferred to the new shop system, but also set up there in an equally meaningful context and integrated into the structures and marketing channels in line with the Shopware 6 functions.

    The additional settings for SEO, shipping costs, payment methods, countries and the options in the Rule Builder require precise judgement. This is the challenge that our developers seek and successfully master every day.

A simple transfer of the data to Shopware 6 is therefore not possible, but requires experienced, expert hands, of which communicode has several.
  • Can we already prepare something for the migration?

    The essential product and manufacturer data can be exported from Shopware 5 at short notice. It is important to list the functions and features that are also urgently needed in Shopware 6 before the migration.   • Does Shopware offer its own migration environment?

    Shopware has provided a migration environment as a little help with which plugin and core licences can be transferred to Shopware 6. However, Shopware also knows how demanding migration projects can be, especially in the Professional and Enterprise versions of Shopware 5 to 6, and that the migration environment is not sufficient as an assistant. For this reason, it is currently only available for users of the Community version and therefore for smaller projects.

    In the course of the migration project, we at communicode will of course also take care of all important licences and the procurement or replacement of the corresponding plug-ins and functions.

  • Does a migration to Shopware 6 (SaaS) also work?

    A migration from Shopware 5 to the SaaS version of Shopware 6 hardly makes a difference for us at communicode. The planning of the individual steps and phases is very similar to the self-hosted version. However, our developers are also familiar with the decisive differences, so that we can also create a customised solution for this project.
